Prayer is waiting in faith for what will happen next. Prayer is surrendering our self sufficiency. Prayer is trusting that God will act. Prayer reaches out into the darkness of faith to take the hand of God, to let him raise us up. Prayer is uniting ourselves in solidarity with all the other souls who wait in the darkness of faith, of hope, of love, for the Father to raise them up. Prayer knows that what seems impossible to us is always possible for God. Prayer is the only way through the darkness. Prayer is allowing the Spirit of Jesus to breathe in us when we cannot breathe for ourselves. Prayer cries out from the depth of our soul, “Abba, Father.”
Holy Saturday is prayer. The prayer of one who has died with Christ and is awaiting new life - but not yet.
